INTENSIVE: Leading Youth Through Crisis
Limited Capacity seats available

Have you ever talked with a student and realized they were in the middle of a crisis and then wondered, “How do I help them through this?” Or got a late-night text that needed an immediate response but wondered, “What do I say to them?” This lab is for anyone who walks with students through the real struggle with suicide, the death of a loved one, the pain of divorce, and more.

The goal is for you to walk away from this lab with:
1. A broad understanding of the crises facing youth today.
2. Practical tools when facing a crisis.
3. Healthy ministry practices for leaders who are responding to a crisis.

INTENSIVE: Speaking to Teenagers: From Mouth to Ear to Mind to Heart
Limited Capacity seats available

Remember the old question about the tree falling in the forest? If no one heard it fall, did it actually make a sound? Well, every week thousands of youth workers ask the same question: “If a youthworker gives a talk to their youth group, and nobody actually seems to listen to it, did the youthworker actually speak at all?”  It doesn’t take long in youth ministry before you realize that giving a talk is not the same thing as being given a hearing.

This intensive will offer you a chance to think about the three basic components of a talk and how to structure your message in such a way that you maximize your impact - whether it's a short devotional, a campfire talk, a longer message, or even (gulp) a sermon - and how to maybe even get your students to listen and respond to it!

2. Reflect on the role of the language we use on sustaining stigma
3. Discover the role of youth group leaders in combating stigma and supporting youth who are experiencing stress

Protecting the Flock and Its Shepherds
Limited Capacity seats available

Jesus warned against crushing the faith of a child in Matthew 18:6. Unfortunately, child sexual abuse is the number one reason Christian ministries end up in court. The devastation caused by abuse on the child and ministry is incalculable. Even allegations of abuse can cripple a ministry. This lab will present implementable strategies to reduce the risk of abuse and false allegations and help you know when and what the law requires you to report in cases of suspected child abuse.

After this lab you will know...
1. What child abuse is.
2. Strategies to minimize the risk of child abuse and false allegations.
3. State-by-state requirements for reporting.
