Remember the old question about the tree falling in the forest? If no one heard it fall, did it actually make a sound? Well, every week thousands of youth workers ask the same question: “If a youthworker gives a talk to their youth group, and nobody actually seems to listen to it, did the youthworker actually speak at all?” It doesn’t take long in youth ministry before you realize that giving a talk is not the same thing as being given a hearing.
This intensive will offer you a chance to think about the three basic components of a talk and how to structure your message in such a way that you maximize your impact - whether it's a short devotional, a campfire talk, a longer message, or even (gulp) a sermon - and how to maybe even get your students to listen and respond to it!
